I'm a big, fat quitter

I have given up on my just eat myself obese plan. Yeah, I know, I didn't last long. I thought eating alot would be easy. It's not. It's painful. I went to Denny's last night. I got a cup of coffee and a glass of water. I ordered the chicken strip dinner with seasoned fries and corn. It also comes with that garlic toast stuff. I ate it. I ate it all. Then it was time for dessert. I never eat dessert. In fact I was full after I gorged myself on chicken, but I got dessert. Brian wanted peanut butter pie. He didn't want to have it if no one else had dessert so I offered up my services. I had carrot cake. That's three layers of carrotty goodness people. Three. I didn't eat it all though. I ate all but the top which was dusted with some short of crushed nuts.....walnut perhaps, not testicle. Afterwards I just wanted to crawl under the table and die. I didn't though. I went home and watched Thirteen Ghosts. I'll start exercising on Monday. Maybe I'll find some neato Weight Watchers recipes to try.

It could've happened

I read Jack the Ripper: First American Serial Killer by Stewart Evans & Paul Gainey. A good read. I suggest it. If you can get past the grammar, you'll enjoy it. The book made me question some of my long-standing beliefs about the murders and the murderer. Have I been swayed completely? Do I now believe, beyond shadow of a doubt, that the Littlechild suspect, T.F. Tumbelty, was the Ripper? Not really. Don't get me wrong. The authors have some valid points and Tumblety does appear to be a "very likely" candidate. I just think that their case could have been made a little stronger. Some of the passages seem to be a bit muddled. For instance, the fact that the murders stopped after Druitt's suicide is not strong enough proof of Druitt's guilt for Evans and Gainey; however, one of the most important factors for labeling Tumblety as the Ripper seems to be the exact same criteria. After Tumblety left London, the murders ceased.
It is not likely that a serial killer will just stop killing. He/she generally doesn't wake up one morning and say, well, that killing thing was fun, let's go play with some puppies now. Especially not if the person is a psychopathia sexualis or "lustkiller" as the authors believe Tumblety to have been. He wouldn't have just stopped if he was still alive. After the murders ceased in Whitechapel, there was a rash of similar killings in Jaimaca and Nicaragua. Though Tumblety had fled London for America and subsequently left America for parts unknown, it was not proven that he was in Central America at the time.
The book also orginally leads the reader to believe that Tumblety was arrested on suspicion of being the Whitechapel Murder, but later in the Addendum Part II, it was shown that Tumblety was charged with committing an act of gross indecency with 4 other men. The authors speculate based on court records that a warrant was issued for failure to appear at the right time or that he was arrested on suspicion of being a murderer. The murder bit seems to just be thrown in. Either way, it was never really proven, and Tumblety was released. If he was just a huge suspect, why would he be released just 5 days after committing the most gruesome of all the murders. There wasn't sufficient evidence against him. As far as I know, he was never shown to supposed eye-witnesses. He was, however, a good enough suspect to merit investigators from Scotland Yard to follow him to America.
I've only read the book once. I'm sure I've missed a few things. I'm sure upon second reading, I will answer most of my own questions. At any rate, I suggest reading this book. It is very insightful and informative and doesn't read like a boring text book. Read it, you'll like it.

I just can't do anything right.

Sometimes I think it would just be easier to eat more instead of dieting and eating less and healthier. Yes, I am overweight, but not quite overweight enough. If I ate more and became morbidly obese, then I could have that neato stomach stabling, band installed thingy. But no. I'm not fat enough for that! Blah! Let's face it, it would be alot easier (albeit more expensive) for me to just eat more and balloon up to an exceptable for surgery weight, than do thousands of sit-ups and live on lettuce. Maybe I'll buy some Twinkies and throw out the celery. Maybe I should just get off my ass and exercise more often. Nah, I think I'll opt for the Twinkies and surgery.
