From the mouths of babes On July 31st, there was a stabbing at the bottom of my street. Or maybe it was in the alley, I don't really know, and quite frankly I don't really care. Anyhoo, two guys (brothers) were fighting over video games at 5am. The 17 year old boy stabbed the 20 year old boy with a kitchen knife in the stomach and shoulder. The mom got hit in the head with a candleholder when she tried to break it up. No one died. Here is what my niece thought of the situation. She was out front this morning drawing with sidewalk chalk when all of a sudden she says: People get killed alot in Maryland and no one cares. Someone almost got killed down there (pointing down the street) and no one is worried about that. People die in Florida, but that's usually from a car accident. And if someone was killed by some other person in Florida, people would say "oh no, somebody got killed. That's horrible." But in Maryland no one cares if you get killed. Maybe that should be our new sign. Welcome to Maryland We don't care if you die. posted by Beth 7:34 PM . . . Tuesday, July 29, 2003 Bandit My bird has a Thyroid tumor. He's going to die. He's 22 years old. The vet is afraid that if they put him under, he might not wake up. If he was younger, they could do more. I have more love for this little creature than I have for most people. He's going to die soon. I feel sick. posted by Beth 6:42 PM . . .
