Please hang up and try again

I'm disappointed. A friend called me collect today. I'm not sure if they dialed down the center or used 10-10-987 or what. You kind of have to call collect when calling from jail. I was unable to accept the call tho. That sucks. I don't want my friend to think that I hung up on them, refused the charges or anything. This gives me a bad feeling inside. Maybe they will try to call again the next time they have phone privileges. Maybe the phone was disconnected on their end so I'm worring for no reason.

Meet Matilda

Matilda is a 1986 Chevy Cavalier. Her hood is light blue. Parts of the driver's side door are blue. The majority of Matilda is primer gray. She smells of oil and stale cigarette smoke. Matilda's glove compartment holds the remnants of an ancient Phish sticker. I peeled most of it off as I am not a fan. Matilda's gas pedal is like a rock. Her brake pedal goes to the floor before she slides to a stop. Her steering wheel is sporadic. The slightest touch may sent you flying across the rode, or the wheel may stick and not allow any sort of turning action. Depends on her mood. There is a gaping hole with protruding wires where the radio once lived. Turning on the fan and defrosters can be detrimental to your health. The first time I tried it, I was hit in the face by a chunk of cardboard flying from the hole where the radio once lived. I cleaned out the cobwebs, but I haven't gotten around to ridding Matilda of the leaves and things that cling to her floor and seats. Matilda's gas gauge doesn't function. Matilda does wonderfully when travelling at speeds exceeding 50mph. 25mph is a bit of a challenge. If at any time she drops below 25mph she begins to shake, rattle, and jump. You thought that I was gonna say roll didn't you?? You know you did. Sometimes she doesn't like to start. Once she does start, you have to wait for her idling to even out before taking off. Sometimes, just to prove that she is better than you and that you, being a measly human, are at the mercy of her violent mood swings, she will stall. She starts up again immediately...after proving her point. Matilda is a fickle bitch...a death trap...but she's mine, and I love her.
